Dan, think of it this way. If Janet Reno hadn't angered the entire Cuban-American population with the Elian Gonzales raid, we wouldn't be arguing over chads and butterfly ballots.

But I guess with any extremely close election, you could play "What if" scenarios all the way to eternity.
