I don't know about eternity, but the next 4 years will sure see plenty of them. It's unfortunate that a guy who lost the popular vote, and won the electoral vote (if he won it at all) by the narrowest of margins, is appointing cabinet members from the far right fringes of his party. He's pretty much guaranteeing gridlock by blowing what little political capital he has in a mindless stunt to show he can stuff any whackoo he wants to into Justice or Interior. If the economy gets much worse, some government intervention may be needed, and Bush has already turned congress into a brawling mob with his senseless appointments.

And given the present issues facing the nation regarding energy, why did Bush appoint an energy secretary who's past involvment with the department has mainly consisted of efforts to dissolve it, because he thought we didn't need one?
