By the way Mani.. I think you're also doing a great job as moderator (this is a way earlier thread I know)
but.. I think that you broke your own guidelines by terminating Richard Surckla a 2nd time permanently.. at least for the reasons you stated in your post.. lots of people go off topic other then him.. some as or more colourful then him.... some more often .. heck... *I* could be banned using that criteria...

Also... I really dont like the "obvious rules violations" subclause you've added to this threads rules.. it gives far too much power to the moderator and is so vague it could be used to ban almost anything or anyone.. remember.. you said early on as moderator you'd try to let the people decide who should stay and who should go., and not become as other moderators sometimes get..

If he is going to be banned.. he should at least be processed thru the original rules.. which was for 2 weeks, then a month then permanent for repeated violations... not an arbritary permanent ban

For that reason.. I must send in a formal objection to his being banned... if I read those rules.. you need 3 objections.. I know of 1 other on here who said he objected.. so thats 2 public ones... but I think the whole thing was mishandled to begin with... regardless of his postings..

EDIT: The other post that objected to Richards ban is here from Combjelly
