If I may chirp in here. Your following point is an interesting one.

"i guess if i viewed, as you do, that abortion were truly murder, i suspect i'd have a much different position"

I am sure most pro-choicers do not subscribe to that line of thought, but it seems odd that they would think someone who does have this point of view is warped. That's the impression I get, anyway (not from your post). I don't call my self a pro-choice (I think it is a stupid term), but I do think abortions should be legal. That said, I can easily see why people would feel they are murders. When life begins is a tricky question and I don't know that answer, but it could easily be argued that it starts at conception or shortly thereafter. When I did a little research on pregnancy I was amazed at how fast the little guys/gals grow. Saw a heartbeat at 6 weeks. I had no idea they developed so fast in the initial stages.

The long and the short of it is that your example is worth considering, and is not an outlandish position for someone to have. Doesn't seem like many pro-choice groups even acknowledge it as worthy point of consideration.
