Want a sure thing? The stock market will go down Wednesday! Why? The Fed meets and will cut rates by fifty basis points, a move that is thoroughly discounted by the futures market and widely anticipated by professional traders. The cut will not be a surprise, unlike the Jan 3rd one. A fully discounted cut can only be met with profit-taking, which will overwhelm the unsophisticated. If the Fed doesn't cut, the market will go down on severe disappointment. Therefore, either way, the market MUST go down. What a great opportunity to either unload longs or sell short, or both.
