GEAR-GolfGear International Inc. Announces Tsunami Driver Conforms with USGA Rules ORLANDO, Fla., Jan 30, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- GolfGear International Inc. ("GolfGear") (OTC BB: GEAR) Tuesday announced that the USGA has determined that GolfGear's Tsunami driver conforms with USGA Rules, thus allowing it to be played in all USGA-sanctioned amateur and professional events. GolfGear's Tsunami driver is the flagship of GolfGear's line of technologically advanced products, and is based on GolfGear's proprietary, multi-patented forged-face insert technology. The Tsunami driver features a 10-2-3 beta titanium forged-face insert, which has been double-struck to maximize density evenly throughout the entire hitting area, and is fused into an investment cast beta titanium body. 10-2-3 beta titanium was developed by the aerospace industry for use in aircraft applications that require light weight, high tensile strength and durability, and is both stronger and denser than conventional titanium alloys. The body of the Tsunami driver utilizes GolfGear's contour dome design, which stabilizes club head geometry at impact to ensure consistent performance. The Tsunami driver is plated with a tungsten cobalt coating to harden the hitting surface and protect the club head. The Tsunami driver comes standard with UST's tour-proven Pro-Force shaft, and is also available in a lighter version reinforced with a zylon tip. The increased density of the 10-2-3 beta titanium forged-face insert provides improved playability and forgiveness. The Tsunami driver comes in 300cc and 340cc models in a variety of lofts, and, depending on shaft selection, has a suggested retail price ranging from $799.95 to $1,099.95. GolfGear also recently introduced a new 300cc tour version of the Tsunami driver with a deeper face. Don Anderson commented: "We are pleased that the USGA has recognized that GolfGear's Tsunami driver conforms with USGA rules. This confirms GolfGear's commitment to producing advanced, technologically driven products that conform with USGA rules that players can use and enjoy at all levels of competition, both amateur and professional." Anderson continued: "The 10-2-3 beta titanium forged-face insert in essence turns the face of the golf club into one huge sweetspot. As a result, we are seeing increasing acceptance of the Tsunami driver at all levels of play, with at least six players using the Tsunami driver at recent PGA Senior Tour events." GolfGear was founded by Anderson in 1989, and features a full line of proprietary golf equipment. GolfGear's patent portfolio with respect to insert technology is the largest and most comprehensive in the golf industry, with nine domestic and foreign patents issued related to forged-face insert technology. These patents incorporate a wide variety of forged-face insert materials, including titanium, beryllium copper, stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and related alloys thereof, and include technology relating to varying the face thickness of the insert.
