"Nokia said on Tuesday it would push back the launch of higher-speed GPRS mobile phones to the third quarter of this year.....Nokia, the world's largest and most profitable mobile phone maker, said volumes of GPRS...phones would rise into the millions in the fourth quarter of this year." biz.yahoo.com

It always astounds and amuses me that companies - in situations such as this - make such definitive statements...

Obviously something is going wrong with handsets - that they've been unable to fix up to now.

Deadlines for GPRS handsets come - and go.

But they're able to divine specifically when - in the future - they will experience an Epiphany - and resolve outstanding issues.

Now it will be 6 months until they launch - with millions of phones ready for the holiday season. Not long ago millions of phones were slated for the first half of 2001.

How can they be so definite with timelines now?

Perhaps the technology is perfected and they're taking 6 months to get the wrapper and color selection just right!
