I also believe that shrinking the gap between rich countries an poor ones is of paramount importance to our long-term security - and exporting some jobs to countries where they are desperately needed is an effective way to do this.

you can export all the jobs you want, you can "re-distribute" whatever wealth you want, and you can "re-finance" all the debt you want.....

but so long the third world continues to reproduce faster than their own ability to feed themselves, poverty will continue. it is that simple.

a paying job --whether the wage is "decent" or not-- will continue to be a luxury for them. unless the source of the problem is addressed, you can put all the band-aids you want, the problem will not be fixed.
