U.S. stock futures came off lows in pre-opening trading on Tuesday and Nokia Group (NOK) came off lows sparked by cautious comments from the Finnish mobile phone handset maker about first-quarter sales.

March futures for the technology-laden Nasdaq 100 index was off 4 points at 2,701. Futures for the Standard & Poor's 500-stock index were up 0.60 of a point at 1,370.60.

Nokia's American Depositary Receipts were down at $34.45 on the Instinet electronic broker system in New York. The ADRs closed on Monday at $36.99.

Nokia, the world's largest mobile phone maker, posted fourth-quarter profits in line with analysts' estimates on Tuesday. However, it trimmed its first-quarter sales growth forecast due to slower growth in the handset market. <<

>> Nokia Sees Stronger Networks Sales In Q2

Finnish telecoms group Nokia said on Tuesday it saw revenue growth for its mobile networks equipment unit strengthening in the second-quarter of 2001 on the first quarter. "Revenue growth in Nokia networks will be faster in the second quarter (of 2001) than in the first one," Nokia Chief Executive Jorma Ollila told a conference call after the company's full-year 2000 result.

Ollila said earlier that Nokia expects 25 percent sales growth for its mobile phone division and growth in excess of 30 percent for its networks division in Q1 2001.

Nokia's networks division has remained in the shadow of its much larger mobile phone unit. Nokia Networks reported 2000 operating profit up 26 percent at 1.36 billion euros ($1.25 billion) on sales of 7.7 billion. <<
