It's unfortunate that a guy who lost the popular vote, and won the electoral vote (if he won it at all) by the narrowest of margins, is appointing cabinet members from the far right fringes of his party.

He is appointing cabinet members from all sections of the party, except perhaps the extreme right wing. He is definitly appointing right wing members but its debatably if Ashcroft goes beyond being part of the the "right wing" to the republican party to being part of the "extreme right wing". You apparently think that Bush didn't legitimately win the election, but correct or not the election is a decided issue. Bush can either act like a Republican president or just do whatever the Democrats want. I don't see much incentive for him to do the later.
