In the absence of a government granted monopoly, enforced worldwide, by the government, at the behest of the drug companies, there is little incentive to develop new drugs, eh? Maybe, or maybe drugs could be developed under the same system that most medical research gets done under. Or maybe the government, having created this particular and peculiar monopoly, has some say in the matter too. I reserve the right to be skeptical of people arguing that the sanctity of the patent system overrides the sanctity of human life. Seems a bit absolutist, you know?
