CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 30, 2001--Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. (Nasdaq:KREM) opened a new store in the City of Industry today, beginning the next phase of its successful Southern California expansion.
Located at 1548 Azusa Ave., outside the Puente Hills Mall, this is the first Krispy Kreme store in the San Gabriel Valley and the 11th in Southern California.
"We are excited to open our long-awaited City of Industry store and bring our Krispy Kreme doughnuts to fans throughout the San Gabriel Valley," said Roger Glickman, president of Great Circle Family Foods, the Southern California area developer for Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.
"Since the opening of our first Southern California store, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts have become a tradition for thousands of Southlanders. With the opening of the City of Industry store, we continue to satisfy the cravings of our devoted customers throughout the Valley."
Doughnut customers driving past the Puente Hills Mall can now look for the company's signature "Hot Doughnuts Now(R)" sign. The hot light, as it is known by Krispy Kreme fans, signals that Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Doughnuts are arriving hot off the line and are ready to be eaten.
The store's convenient drive-through service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Hours for retail counter service are from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 5:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
"As one of the most popular, most sought-after doughnuts on the market today, Krispy Kreme is a very welcome addition to the Puente Hills Mall. We are proud to be the first in the San Gabriel Valley to offer our customers and business partners a bite of Krispy Kreme," said Kym Espinosa, marketing director for Puente Hills Mall.
In addition to serving its signature hot doughnuts, one of the key ingredients to the success of the Krispy Kreme brand is its dedication to the communities it serves. Many local organizations benefit from successful fund-raising partnerships, product donations and local involvement with schools and religious and community organizations.
Krispy Kreme stores offer more than 15 varieties of doughnuts, including the company's best seller, the Krispy Kreme Original Glazed. To complement the doughnuts, Krispy Kreme brews coffee from its own special blend of 100 percent Arabica beans, which are roasted to the company's exacting specifications.
Krispy Kreme made its Southern California debut in January 1999 with the opening of its La Habra store. Following that location, 10 additional stores have opened, in Van Nuys, Orange, Ontario, Huntington Park, Long Beach, Gardena, Los Angeles, Bakersfield, San Diego and today in the City of Industry.
Krispy Kreme will continue its Southern California expansion with the opening of stores in Canoga Park, Riverside and Oxnard.
