Have you ever noticed that as parents we think we have certain rights that don't apply to our children.
Sort of a double standard, and I as a parent I am petty much ok with that...it goes with the age and the territory.

Here is an example that is occurring in my house. When the older three children were young. I could tell them to do something or set down a rule, simply "because" as the authority figure. So I would find that sometimes my line to them was "just because" or "just because I am the mom and I said so" As the kids have gotten older, I have given more explanation and I expect the same from them. I now hear myself telling them..."because is not a reason" Live and learn!!! I am getting my just reward with Kevin now. He has often heard me say "because is not a reason." So guess what, when I tell Kevin something, and he ask "why" I cannot just say....."because." I am being made aware of my saying that simply because if that is my reply, he announces, "but mom 'because' isn't a reason!!!"
