Do you believe that there is a certain amount of poverty built in structurally?

I do, and I believe there is an obligation to provide a basic safety net for the poor and as many opportunities as possible to their children, to avoid cyclic poverty. I do not believe that we should guarantee high-paying jobs for the unqualified, or that we should restrict the import of goods from low-wage countries in order to keep basic manufacturing jobs here. Our competitive advantage is in technology, and educated workforce, and the efficiency those bring; we need to exploit it. We should not try to prevent other countries from exploiting a low-wage labor force if that is the only competitive advantage they have.
