e2-Capital (Holdings) Ltd. (0378) has teamed up with Softbank Investment International (Strategic) Ltd. (0648) to form an e-business joint venture, four months after a similar alliance with netalone.com Ltd. (0336) fell through, the South China Morning Post reported, without naming sources.

e2-Capital suspended its share trading yesterday pending an announcement on the possible formation of a joint venture while trading in shares of Softbank, the international investment arm of Japan's Softbank Corp., was also suspended the same day pending an announcement on a possible major transaction.

Company sources said the stocks would be suspended today.

Softbank is a substantial shareholder of e2-Capital, holding 5.64 percent or 65 million shares, the paper said. The deal follows a number of ill-fated negotiations between e2-Capital and interested parties in the past four months, it said.

Softbank shares were last quoted at HK$1.16 while e2-Capital at 42 HK cents.

Is this what Softbank is doing with CSCO money? Just putting money into another HK venture that has not been able to go it alone? Maybe I should not be so negative, but this does not look like a great deal.
