e2-Capital (Holdings) Ltd. (0378), which was taken over by a technology investment bank last year, soared as much as 9.9 percent after saying that it is studying the possibility of a spinoff of its manufacturing unit.

At 11:28 a.m. Hong Kong time, its shares were up 8.6 percent at 44 HK cents on turnover of HK$169,950, which was 3.3 times higher than yesterday's total.

The manufacturing unit makes packaging products for luxury goods under the brand name Winbox.

The company said the proposal is still at preliminary discussion stage. No terms have been settled and no formal application for a listing has been made to the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, it said.
