Please excuse the intrusion here. I read this thread, though I usually don't have anything to add. Except now I want to give you this observation.

I occasionally buy large capacity SanDisk solid state storage with IDE interface. Usually 256 MB or 440Mb capacity. Today I need to buy another unit to build a system to ship, and I can't find a single unit available at any of the usual on-line shops like Insight or CDW. Usually this item needs to be ordered in advance anyway, because the demand is greater than the supply. And today is no exception. In my opinion there is no general glut in flash memory. Though there might be in the small capacities.
