Comverse Provides Mobile Data Applications To Hubei Mobile Communications Company WOODBURY, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 30, 2001--Comverse Network Systems, a division of Comverse Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:CMVT - news), and the world's leading supplier of software and systems enabling network-based enhanced services, announced today they have signed an agreement with Hubei Mobile Communications Company (HB MCC) to provide the network with a comprehensive mobile data application platform.
Under the terms of the agreement, Comverse will provide short messaging services (SMS). HB MCC's mobile subscribers will receive new value-added services such as text messaging, and information services such as stock transactions, weather information and flight scheduling.

With a customer base of 2 million subscribers, HB MCC is one of the largest provincial mobile operators in China. HB MCC is a subsidiary of the China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC), one of the largest mobile operators in the world.
