Did you know that the average cost for a non-hospital abortion was $316 in 1997?. The cost ran as low as $150 in some areas.

I keep seeing references to government funding of abortion and wonder if everyone realizes that the federal government does not provide funding for abortion unless pregnancy is the result of rape or incest, or the life of the mother is threatened. The Congress of the United States, under both Democratic and Republican control, has never authorized federal government funding of abortion, except for those specific reasons.

Sixteen states do provide some funding. In most states, opinion polls have consistently shown a substantial majority against public funding. Because of this, politicians inclined to support funding are in the minority.
