AcSys Biometrics Announces Wireless Face Recognition and Web-Capable Face
Recognition

BURLINGTON, ON, Jan. 31 /CNW/ - Heritage Concepts International Inc.
(HCI) (TSE:HCI) announces that its subsidiary, AcSys Biometrics Inc. has,
through its recent prototype, made wireless face recognition possible and has
accomplished face recognition over the web.
"This is a huge step in the verification and authentication technology
industry," said Jerry Janik, president AcSys Biometrics. "This means that not
only will you be able to protect your personal information, your confidential
files on your home or office computer, but you will also ultimately be able to
protect your identity from unauthorized use."
Facial recognition authentication can, for example, allow an individual
to retrieve or access files to which only he is authorized. Augmenting this
with wireless technology expands the use of facial recognition beyond the
boundaries within which it has been confined.
Face recognition can now work in such wireless environments as dedicated
networks, wireless networks, cellular solutions and the web. An example of a
dedicated network application would be in an office environment where two
separate networks communicate wirelessly for entry access to a building, and a
cellular application would be receiving one's email over a cellular network.
AcSys has been successful in integrating its face recognition capabilities
with these applications so that facial recognition authentication is no longer
limited to a hard-wired product.
AcSys has also developed web-capable facial recognition, which one could
use, for instance, to verify over the Internet the use of one's charge card.
Using this capability, the verifying system could use the camera on a user's
PC to secure his image and then access a central databank to authenticate the
user as the authorized cardholder. If the user were not the cardholder, then
access to the account would be denied.
"We are elated that we will soon be able to offer this type of identity
protection to the consumer. These kinds of technological developments are
altering the facial recognition industry and AcSys Biometrics is setting the
pace," said Janik.
AcSys Biometrics Inc. is a subsidiary of HCI. AcSys Biometrics is the
leading-edge provider of facial recognition through its exclusive worldwide
license for face and speech recognition based on Quantum Holographic Neural
Technology (HNeT) with applications for the financial, manufacturing, security
and medical sectors. HCI is a diversified, Burlington, Ontario-based, Canadian-
controlled company operating in this new economy through autonomous
subsidiaries and partnerships. HCI trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
