The way I look at MO is that (1) its earning growth of 9% to 11% for year 2001 will certainly beat that of S&P500, and (2) the current annual dividend yield of 4.8% is almost as good (but not quite) as the yield one gets in money market. Furthermore, one can reasonably expect that MO's annual dividend will increase to $2.32 per share by the end of August while the money market yield will decline as the Fed continues to cut the rate. If we run into reccession, MO will appear to shine even brighter.
