Have you seen Traffic yet? I saw it this weekend - it was too crowded the first weekend it opened - and then seems to have dropped like a rock - all of the local multiplexes moved it from theater 1 straight to theater 4, 5, or 6.. Probably due to the fact that it's consciously arty, and the morality is ambiguous, and some of the events are extremely unpleasant. But I liked it. Last night I rented 28 Days, with Sandra Bullock, about a alcohol and drug abuser who agrees to spend 28 days in rehab to avoid jail time for drunk driving a stolen car into a house. Predictably cute but surprisingly good insight into rehab and recovery. Coincidentally, I heard on NPR yesterday that nationwide the states pay more for drug rehab and treatment than they do for public school education. I guess that's the downside of my legalization argument - you don't make the criminals rich anymore, you get rid of the trafficking pretty much, but that doesn't make the stuff non-addictive, nor harmless.
