Found a work around to the format.... I started windows in safe mode and formated D from there using the explorer window method.

system.ini was the file being used off of D. It was associated with a old McAfee Nuts and Bolts program I had on there. That program always was a PITA!

Regardless... I have a squeeky clean slave drive. Any suggestions on the best way to use it in order to store critical files?
