We’ve posted a list of some common questions we’ve received along with their answers. Please continue to post additional questions to the Stock-Picking Challenge thread. After the market closes tomorrow, please set up your public portfolio at siliconinvestor.com and name the portfolio with your alias.
Don’t forget that if your friend or family member would like to enter, today is the last day to give them a complimentary Premium Membership. Just have them go through the registration process and get a free Basic Membership at siliconinvestor.com.
Then have that person send you their Username they selected when they registered. Reply to this Private Message (PM) with the Username your friend or family member selected, and we will set up their complimentary lifetime membership and send you a confirmation. Their Premium Membership will be activated immediately so they can start posting right away.
FAQ
Q: Which stocks are eligible? A: The stock must be listed on the NASDAQ, AMEX, NYSE or OTC:BB. Mutual funds (both closed ended, open ended, and exchange traded funds such as DIAMONDS and SPDRs) are not eligible.
Q: Do I have to choose 5 Stocks? A: Yes. You must select 5 stocks of 100 shares each.
Q: How will the winners be determined? A: The winners will be determined on or about March 2, 2001, by tabulating the top ten winners and the last place winner based on overall percentage returns.
Q: What if there is a tie? A: We will award duplicate prizes.
Q: Do I need to set up a public portfolio? A: Yes. After the close of the market on February 1, please create a public portfolio for your 5 stock picks. Make sure you enter 100 shares per stock and that you use the market open price. You can do this by going to siliconinvestor.com. Make sure to name the portfolio after your alias. Once you have created your portfolio, click the “share with others” link to make it a public portfolio. Please post the URL of your portfolio to the Stock-Picking Challenge thread.
