The point is you have people holding themselves out as professionals, highly educated in the ways of finance, and professional finance journalists, etc.; all running their mouths and dispensing absurd advice and direction to an audience that they KNOW is made up of a certain subsection of people who perceive these talking heads to be experts and trustworthy. Case in point of absurdity: The other day they actually reported that Schwab was "closing down some offices on Fridays". Now if anybody was thinking, duh, they would have thought that was a stupid statement to read, why would SCH close down offices on a trading day, doesn't make sense. But read and spout right on they went. Only to correct things later and report it was mandatory vacations for non customer contact employees on the next 3 Fridays. But hey, what's the point in accuracy.
