My translation at the time was that the office expense is about the same for Clinton as Reagan when you factor the difference for the geographies.

There is no reason for Clinton to have his office in Manhattan. He lives in Westchester county, probably 20 to 30 miles outside of the City. The rents are lower there.

If he picks Manhattan, it doesn't have to be on 56th floor of a luxury building, and if it is Manhattan, it should have Manhattan size square footage that's on par with how people in Manhattan use offices. (Just take your workspace in your office, and put 3 people in that space to get an idea.)

The bottom line is that he is spending money like it was somebody else's money.
