I was a little bit caustic in my last comment. Chalk it up to the fact ... ahem... I was pretty much plastered. Hope I did not do any damage.

My comments still make sense I guess. If the US consumers´ confidence stumbles further, the whole situation will hit the fan full blast and envelop us all in a fine brown mist. US is in a so far unchartered position of a) having budget surplus and b) large private debts and c) large negative external balance. Which (I mean c) one can safely stash away for future years. But a and b will be interesting to watch how that develops. Definitely not the direction of Nihon AG from 10 years ago. Still as Jurassic Park II dialog went:

"...and we will not repeat the old errors.."

"Oh no, we'll sure think up some new ones..."

I´m very much in cash and hold just few complete unknowns (as stock) and euro (vs $ and Y) leaps.
