. . . Interest Rates. . . . I believe that Greenspan has already been approved to lower interest rates by another 1/4 point at ANY TIME between now and the next FOMC meeting, should the markets begin to tank or the economy worsen significantly. Such a sudden announcement would cause a burst similar to the one on January 2nd, when many stocks were hitting new 52 week lows. I suggest that we be on alert for such a move, should these markets turn and run southward at any point in the next several weeks.

However, I further believe that we may see another burst rally before Valentines Day. . . with or without such rate cut news. I would be watching the VOLUME most carefully. When the fewest number of investors are watching or playing these markets or when individuals seem to be giving up, is when I expect a burst to the north.

But such a sharp move cannot happen on its own. The Power Brokers need to manufacture "news" to give cause to their driving of the markets. Someone like Ralph Accompora or Mary Meeker will give a new forward projection. . . .such as "Dow 12,000" or "Nasdaq 4000" or other such mass upgrades of tech stocks, etc.

It is important to note that such predictions are not the REASON for the move northward, but rather the EXCUSE to take the markets higher. These analysts do not have power of their own per se. They are merely figureheads, to give cause to market moves by the largest brokerages and other such Power Brokers [Po' Boys]. If the brokerages were to move the markets sharply without such "news", it would lead to unwanted investigations.
