Geoff Moore seems to be saying explicitly that network effects may produce a geometric increase in the members of the network without yielding any appreciable returns.

I would hope that has to do with the kinds of network effects at play. Ideally, the Project Network reports will reveal network effects which have varying degrees of impact because that's the premise Mauboussin's piece is based on.
