I am not aware of anyone who has looked into option repricing as a formal study, so, sorry, I couldn't tell you how widespread the practice is.

The highest profile repricing I can remember is ASND. They repriced employee options just a few months before selling the company. That was a clear case, IMO, where there was a transfer of wealth from shareholders to employees.

In the specific case of CSCO, I honestly don't think that management would try repricing.
