Ken,

I think I disagree somewhat.

1. Much less than $20/month financed the building of the voice network.
2. The $20/month unlimited Internet service in the US seems to be going to AOL-TW, not the telcos that are building the infrastructure. AOL-TW doesn't seem to have as overwhelming a monopoly in many other parts of the world.
3. An incremental $20/month to the $25/month now being paid for voice services would probably make most RBOCs ecstatic.

I completely agree that being able to charge for extra services that have value to the customers is a win-win situation, except for NT's competitors until they catch up. The money I give my telco for call answer, caller id and name display flows straight through to its bottom line. Similar opportunities are not yet being exploited for data / internet services.
