Bob - the finance vs marketing dilemma is huge. Clearly, marketing dollars are always dicey because you can never truly measure an roi. or if you can, finance guys say it cost too much.

On the other hand, brand recognition is everything. The message elnk has to get out (and they're trying) is that aol is not the internet, its a pit stop that clogs up your experience.

You're not off base at all and I agree that acquisitions are a good way of going about it.
