I think P4 is just priced too high to be attractive (and I hope it stays that way). Even if you are an Intel fan, 1 GHz P3 at $280 is a lot more attractive than P4 1.5 GHz at $700 (+ RDRAM) which delivers little or no performance increase over 1 GHz P3.

Edit: and for PC hobbyists who like to tinker with their system, P4 is a non starter. The platform was basically dead the day it was released, since Intel will have a completely new P4 chips, motherboards and pinouts as early as Q3. P4 systems are basically non-upgradeable.
