Watson,

It was 1,000 sq. ft. and we kept it at 70 on gas heat. January, 1999 the heating bill was $300. Typical winter heating bills were $150-200, which is pretty ridiculous, because most winter days it gets over 60 degrees.

The weatherstripping was easily fixable, but I wasn't inclined to add insulation on a rental.

Sensible energy use in California would make everybody's lives there more comfortable.
