Another McDonalds failure. MCD has announced that it will discontinue its 55-cent (not) burger promo because it failed to generate expected business. Lehman Bros. downgrades MCD and lowers earnings estimates; Merrill Lynch lowers earnings estimates. Remember, when this promotion was announced, it rocked the fast-food industry with fears that the burger wars would cut into everyone's margins. Thank you MCD for your 55-cent blunder (which knocked FM down as couple of points and allowed me to purchase more shares at a bargain!) D. Kuspa
