Sid: As a point of comparison with internal combustion engine vehicles running on gasoline, Chrysler is developing a fuel cell vehicle running on gasoline and using a PEM fuel cell and a reformer to extract hydrogen from the gasoline. They claim a 100% improvement in efficiency over an internal combustion engine vehicle. This is in line with other information that I have read about for efficiency of PEM fuel cells with external reformers. The Chrysler development effort is described in the following website: car-truck.com I work on a project at Humboldt State University that is developing PEM fuel cells for use in vehicles and for other applications. We have produced fuel cells that are powering golf carts in Palm Desert, California.
