Blacklist:
My thoery: The .bin Blacklist has been turned off. This is a tactic being tested by DTV. They want to see how many people are keeping subs alive because of the blacklist. Their idea is probably to get as many people running emulation now to cancel their subs, and then re-instate the blacklist. As a stern warning: DO NOT cancel a H-card that is subscribed, even if you are hacking it. It will only lead to a shorter .bin pool! Pay the minimum fee a month, and suck it up :)

The Future:
Freeware is dead. You can no longer put code on your card, and pop it in the receiver. This is a fact. The only way to hack DTV now is emulation, a method by which many people simply choose not to do.
HackHU was a free website because it made a commission off some sales, and generated some revenue from donations. In all, the incoming money covered the outgoing costs quite nicely. There were a few months that the site was run at a loss, and a few months that it turned a gain. In all, the site pretty much broke even.
Sadly, however, there is simply not the demand for hardware that there use to be, and the traffic on HackHU has risen to well over 600GB per month. We expect close to a Terabyte of traffic in February at the current rate of increase and average traffic per day. Simply put, it costs a hell of a lot of money to run a website like this, money that I do not have. Since the revenues from commissions have seemingly slowed down permanently, there is only one route that seems feasible: a nominal fee to use the site.
I understand that HackHU was built on the principle of "free," but I feel people would much rather pay a small amount of money to use the site than see it go. When I say small, I mean it. Unlike other sites, HackHU is going to cost somewhere in the area of $6-$8 USD to use. This fee will entitle you to use the site as you have in the past, and ensure that the traffic bill is kept in check. The more people who use the site, the more cost, the more revenue, and everything balances out. You will get username and password, come to the site, and (much like a porn site) log in and have full access to the entire website.
Now before you write the email that says I am an asshole, please pay attention: this is only a thought at this time. Nothing, I repeat, nothing is official right now. HackHU will continue to operate as it always has. I can tell you that the month of February is going to be a crucial deciding point for the website, however. If it proves to cost me money out of pocket to run HackHU, I am simply not going to keep it free. I don't appreciate being called a sellout because the site will still be "free." You would not be paying me to make the page, or provide the content...you would be paying the fee from the hosting company that your individual use of the site would incur, assuming this plan is forced into action. I do not want to charge you money to use this site, and will continue to operate it 100% free until the day when I am forced not to. It could take 1 month, it could take 1 year, but I just feel you should have fair warning in advance.
You heard right before, 600GB of traffic, with the possibility of a terabyte in coming months. No website generates this kind of traffic every month, even forum sites that have you download tons and tons of text which each thread you switch to. In just under 5 months, HackHU has become the largest DSS Hacking site there is, and I would like to thank you for making this happen. I will try my best to keep this site running to your full expectations, and will continue to support the hobby in the years to come. Unless, of course, someone offers me an *incredible* amount of money for the website (see article below)...but I don't see it happening. Hey, it was worth a shot:) Take care all.
