Geac Enterprise Solutions Inks Deal With Brazilian Airport AdministrationExtensive Evaluation Process Culminates in Major Licensing of SmartStream Applications
ATLANTA, Jan 24, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Geac Enterprise Solutions(TM), a division of Geac Computer Corporation Limited (TSE: GAC chart, msgs), today announced that Infraero - the Brazilian Government Airport Administration - has chosen Geac's SmartStream(R) Financials back-office software applications to streamline its financial transaction process.

This is a multi-year, multi-million dollar (U.S.) contract. Infraero chose Geac's SmartStream applications over several other software vendors after an extensive evaluation, demonstration and negotiation process.

Infraero was looking for a solution that would integrate with its Geac General Ledger application, save the agency money and enable it to reorganize its financial structure utilizing one vendor's applications. The specific SmartStream Financials applications to be implemented include Allocations, Budget, Funds Control, Ledger, Payables, Projects and Receivables. According to Flavio Rodrigues, Financial Manager at Infraero, "SmartStream's flexibility and richness in functionality made it the ideal choice to help us meet our current and future needs. Geac offered us a totally integrated solution instead of a set of individual applications and the advantages were so compelling that we were willing to change our database."

Harry Debes, president of Geac Enterprise Solutions (Americas), stated, "SmartStream's comprehensive reporting and funds control capabilities are an ideal match to a government agency such as Infraero. SmartStream applications are designed to maximize a customer's existing investment in other applications, dynamically change business processes, sort through great amounts of data and create useful and pertinent information, and incorporate the logical flow of activities and information into an organization's applications. This is accomplished through a solid foundation of configurable workflow utilizing Geac's Active Architecture - a powerful design strategy and set of components that allows users to seamlessly connect an organization's core enterprise applications to both internal and external users."
