right this moment i am exchanging emails with an R&D person from symantec who is trying to figure out some strange update behaviors in my norton personal firewall software. so i am definitely no stranger to problemos with norton update installs. <g>

fortunately i have found a tech who is not a knee-jerk uninstall/reinstall artist (increasingly that seems to be the advice handed out on the symantec message boards), and that soothes the pain and aggravation that usually accompanies these snafus. the tech is devoting a lot of time to this with me and actually claims i am helping him by sticking with the drill. so i'm trying to wrangle a comped upgrade out of him, but so far no dice. <g3>

i would suggest that you peruse the symantec support site for your issue, as there's a very good chance that there is a current knowledge base article about the nav2001 update difficulty if it is becoming a widespread problem.

good luck

:)
