Snowboarder :
What software version are you on? If you are on 2.11 or 3.007 you know that the new server architecture of 3.007 is slowly subsuming everything.
This new architecture is designed for lower bandwidth requirements on both ends;client side and Cyber's side.
Before I was on a frame-relay I had a solid 128k isdn connection...2.11 rarely had connection problems and executions were always fast.
The beginning of these current problems occurred when Cybercorp rolled out 3.00
3.00 is a disaster: it is designed to sreamline data flow and the lessen stress on Cyber's infrastructure.
2.11 had occasional CPC-Q and CPC-H problems but it was always fast fast fast .
3.00 is designed to go through more levels of servers to stabilize the system.Problem is these mid-level servers as they are called slow down execution..REDI MarketXT ARCA BTRD qoutes, confirmations and cancels are now all slower .And I am on a friggin frame-relay .I feel like a shmuck .I tried 3.00 in november and have gone back to 2.11.
I tried to point out these problems like slower executiond and increased ecn latency and broken TraderStats ..that was in November.
Only of late have i tried to use 3.007 the seventh build and guess what? TraderStats rarely work and this 3 friggin months later.
Jist of it is CYbercorp has for first time since i have been with them in a year and a half decided to put out a version of software the is worse than the prior version .
This version was put out because Cyber has gotten so big that they decided that streamlining the software was more important than EXECUTION..a fatal mistake.
I have written letters ..i have yelled i have pleaded and to no avail.
Cybercorp and Philip Berber had a laser focus on what we needed as traders..it was a detail operation run by smart tough hard working people dedicated to their clients : daytraders.
Berber the visionary of the company left last month.
So now the focus on our needs as traders is gone Schwab is focused on bringing in new accounts and marketing ..they are clueless to how bad they have fucked this up.
As soon as i saw 3.00 and i saw that all the bells and whistles were crap and worst of all the executions were slower I knew there was a problem.

To answer your question I am guessing that whatever platform you are on 2.11,3.00 or CyberX the reason you now notice less data flow is because you are 100% correct that is what the new architecture is all about.
This is what happens to a great company ..when it becomes too large too fast. Some of these problems were begin before the takeover by Schwab...Now Cyber has lost its identity ..you wait on hold on phone lines,,the phone system is even screwy...you battle software bugs everyday and no one cares.
There are some great people at Cybercorp still ..and they are frustrated too because the lines of communication have broken down completely between what was at one time the focus of the company(traders) and the software side.
The wheels are completely off this thing right now
I pray that the wakeup because I have always been dedicated to Cybercorp. Now the software problems just fester and no fixes anything.
Cybercop needs to start a focus group to communicate trader concerns ie. software bugs and issues. For some reason the software department does not fix things any more .I have bugs in 2.11 and 3.00 that cost me money.Last night I wanted to trade CMTN and SSTI both from the short-side ...stock was halted I had 2000 shortable share in each..guess what ..the same bug i have been warning these guys about ends up costing me 2 grand easy.
I cant figure it out.I amazed out how fast the technology has gone down hill.I know from talking to execsa that software development has lost people..but this is ridiculous.
All business are cyclical ..we all have uptimes and downtimes like Shwab is currently having with its brokerage business but you dont turn off the spigot..you dont layoff techswhen you are supporting software for 10000 traders.
The decision making at the top has been truly disasterous..Gee lets let the software geeks do whatever we can to make the operation run smoother...fuck the execution speed fuck loyal clients by not listening to them.
I cant figure it out and I am sorely disaapointed.
I will do whtever I can to maintain excellence w/Cyber I have helped as much as I can...now they need to wake up.
I spoke to Onsite Trading today and I look forward to building a relationship with them and any other broker who cares about the product and the customer.
