New notebooks offer biometric protection
cnn.com

Not favorable...

FWIW
I sent an email to webmaster@pcworld.com. The reply I received was the canned ya we'll look at it but will send it to the party concerned and we might answer it or list it on the site or something so don't hold your breath... I was thinking that if they received some more inquires about the "story" they may pay some attention and give up an answer or two...

I read an article from the CNN web site, titled "New notebooks offer
biometric protection". I was curious if the author, Jamie Fenton, was
able to keep unauthorized people from accessing the systems. No mention
if the biometric systems succeeded or failed in keeping the bad guys
from either logging on or accessing data. Also, what Compaq system was
used in his review, the type II PC card Biotouch or was the scanner
embedded in the Armada E500 that mentioned in the story?

I've read other reviews that commented on the ability to rapidly log on
and was under the impression that the success rate increased as the user
become more familiar with the system. Did the author find the same
results?
