Vital Statistics - 1/30/2001
DVD title sales are off to a great start for 2001. According to VideoScan’s First Alert Reporting Retailers, for the week ending Jan. 21, 2001, DVD title sales were 1,941,000, up from last week’s sales of 1,922,000. Year-to-date sales are 6,245,000.

According to statistics released by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), for the week ending Jan. 19, 2001, DVD player sales were 115,864, up 14.4 percent over 2000, yet slightly down from last week’s sales of 135,568. Month-to-date and year-to-date sales are 329,081, up 67.4 percent of January 2000.

VCR deck sales for the week were 158,573, down (-28.8) percent from sales this week in 2000. Month and year-to-date sales are 398,895, down (-16.5) percent from sales in 2000.
