Well, seriously, then, if we must, bland is not personally convinced of your initial premise. He is not at all certain most men in fact feel a strong need to oppose abortion. Many do, of course, but again, he doubts it is motivated for genetic reasons. Men who want to enjoy the widest possible variety of feminine "charis" are driven mostly by ego, power, and pleasure. They are not seeking successful pregnancies. They do not want to be held to personal consequences, if it is at all possible to avoid them.
There are always exceptions, of course.
And yes, bland is aware he is responding to your point on different level than you are making it. Bland is addressing the layer that is closer to consciousness (entertaining the faint hope that he may soon arrive there sometime himself at some point in the afternoon). |
