And you can't use a blueprint for a house for building bridges. They have different functions...Cells could be said to have function, in the sense blueprints do, but no brains or wills with which to generate intention.<<
Well, functions serve purposes. Cells are functional: they function. Blueprints, on the other hand, actually do not function. They are acted on. They are followed. Cells may arguably have no brains or wills, but they do serve specific purposes, they function in explicit roles, and they interact with other cells to accomplish larger ends: to become a dog, to make you sneeze, to spoil your leftovers, and so on. |
