COOL seems to be the only etailer that isn't hurting. BUYX just reported miserable results. Negative growth - with gross margins of 6.8%. And just wait and see what their growth will be now that they're going to cut their marketing expenses and raise prices to try to get to 10% gross margins. Sheesh, COOL did this stuff a long time ago. The company has known for a long time that getting to profitability would be the most critical thing and COOL is moving nicely towards that moment. AMZN also is taking some heat about whether or not they will ever get profitable. Somewhat to my amazement, both BUYX and AMZN are now saying they will be profitable by the end fo this calendar year. I'll believe that when I see it, particularly from BUYX. Egghead is pretty much toast, they just can't seem to get a grip on it.

I've seen entire sectors be totally out of favor before. Typically there are a couple of good companies buried in there, and that's the case here with etailers. Mostly nobody even pays attention to them right now. But somewhere down the line, one or two will emerge and it will become apparent that these companies are creating fairly substantial franchises. It is quite clear to me that COOL will be one of these, because the company is really good at what they're doing, and there is a business there. It's a time for patience right now, though, because these 'out of favor sector' things take a while to wash out.
