But those evangelists get a great deal of money, some of them, out of mentally limited people, many of them poor. For those who just watch and feel better, hey, it's soma; but for some... well, it's just too costly and sad in a few ways.

And the whited sepulchres who get their money are disgusting.

Some of them I think are probably sincere people, with personal decency. For some reason I have that impression of Jerry Falwell. Am I wrong? I'll be if I asked my hubby, he'd have a few things to tell me about Falwell....

LOL... he just came down and offered me a whole book about Falwell. I'm evidently quite in error! I shall decline the book and take his word for it.

Oh, no! He's brought the book and thrust it under my nose!

It seems not to be just about Falwell, but about a lot of the evangelists, with of course a section about Falwell.

Holy Terror, the Fundamentalist War on America's Freedoms in Religion, Politics and Our Private Lives, is the title.

I don't want to read it. It will keep me awake. You read it! Or Solon, you read it! And report back to the class.

Edit: the damn book was written in 1982, I see. Well, I guess prehistory is important, too.
