Michael Watkins: IS rarely posts on MDD and when she does, she always includes a big dose of self promotion. I think she has created more than enough threads on SI to promote herself and her web site.
MDD is about cordial and worthwhile analysis and discussion, not self promotion.

LG

LG,

Since I happen to know Teresa quite well, her work, motivations and abilities, I'm admittedly going to be biased in my reply although I'm certain my bias in this matter is less than yours.

The post in question Message 15270346 was not unlike many on the MDD thread.

There are many contributors to the MDD, and surely, LG, you are aware that many have their own threads or external web sites. You yourself have had and 'promoted' an external web site. Ironically, near the post in question, I note you invited Temple Williams, who runs a fee for service external web site, to comment. Are you promoting his fine service? Is he?

To be fair, perhaps you should ban anyone that has even a remote connection to an external web site, whether for fee or for free. You never know when free might change to fee or fee to free so why take chances!

As well, anyone that posts material from or links to fee for service or free for service web sites should also be banned, since they directly or indirectly are 'promoting' such venues.

It also occurs to me that if infrequent posting, followed by a time consuming and information rich post, is against thread rules, then that approach ought to serve as an effective filter against new and potentially useful, and regular, contributors to the MDD thread.

Its clear to this reader that the definition of cordial and what is permitted on the MDD discussion thread is arbitrary beyond what might be reasonable, and therefore I won't be a contributor or reader henceforth.

Regards to the thread,
Michael
