I spent about 6 hours on the phone w/ MSFT support last week. Call was on MY dime too. All I can say is you ain't out of the woods until you have about 5 re-boots and everything comes up correctly. Needless to say WIN98 hasn't been the grand party I was expecting. I still can't use any more USB and my soundblaster emulator keeps disappearing everytime I re-boot..
