I've noticed when I try to talk about things like birth control pills… you always shift the topic to PBA's…Then there's your use of "extenuating circumstances"…

Well I certainly didn’t change topics to dishonorably avoid your arguments. I must have done it for some other reason. I am too bored with our exchange to go back and check. If it interests you, then you should do it. As to my use of “extenuating circumstances,” I only do here what is reasonable. If you found yourself in a pickle you’d want every true extenuating circumstance in existence to be marshaled forth on your behalf. It is hypocritical then to suggest they be ignored for everyone else.

I'm beginning to suspect that you may be - brace yourself - a lawyer.

Well that certainly is no insult. I’ve been called far worse things.

About the "poll questions" - gee, I thought I hit send. Anyway, I was going to ask whether you and any sexual partner you've had in your life had ever used birth control pills or IUD's?

Nope - never.

I suspect that many prolife folks do even though these cause many more "silent abortions" than are performed in abortion clinics.

Perhaps. I simply do not know this and apparently neither do you. Many prolifers are perhaps only now learning the aborting nature of The Pill. Pro-life groups are trying to educate them. (see www.morningafterpill.org) But their resources are limited. You might consider sending them a sizable donation.

Also if a member of your family were raped, would you strongly advise them not to take the morning after pill when given it at the emergency room to avoid killing their baby should they happen to be pregnant?

My family knows my position on this matter. Without question I would want to raise the child. And I would love it as my own flesh, to one day send it into the world as part of my legacy—a far better person than its biological father.

Would you also advise women on the birth control pill for non-birth control purposes (I'm a little skeptical about the need for this, but whatever), to avoid having sexual relations while on the pill to avoid the risk of killing an embryo?

Well with just a little thinking it may not be necessary to advise such women to avoid sex altogether. Were it my position to counsel them, I might counsel them to use, in addition to The Pill, means of contraception that cannot result in abortion. The Pill would serve its non-reproduction purposes and the contraception would prevent abortion. In truth, were I in such a counseling position, I would undoubtedly be fired straightaway because I would likely tell my counselees to stop fornicating, get married and get pregnant. When I consider the meaning of sex and Holy Matrimony, I am forced to conclude that however much we try and dress it up, sex outside of a robust marriage is simply masturbation with another person.
