STOCKS SLIPPED as bargain-hunting in blue chips such as the telecoms play Pacific Century CyberWorks and the conglomerate First Pacific was offset by losses in exporters. The Hang Seng fell 0.57 per cent, 92.70 points, to 16,071.29, after hitting 16,274.67, a high for 2001; it is up 0.17 per cent on the week and 6.46 per cent for the year. Rate-sensitive bank and property stocks were mixed, but investors appeared to have discounted a cut in interest rates by Hong Kong banks expected after the close.
